P6 Planner
Duration: 6 months +
Rate: £530 p/d inside IR35
Hybrid working: Flexible working 1- 2 days based in Reading office
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Our client is a leading engineering and design consultancy who require a P6 Planner to support their client, a major utilities company, on a range of CAPEX projects.
Candidates must have experience within the utilities sector.
Role Purpose Summary
Reporting to the Reporting and Controls Manager for one of the regional delivery offices, the Project Planner will be responsible for all planning and schedule management activities within the corporate planning tool ensuring a true representation of the Capital Delivery Programme is established and maintained within the corporate planning tool. This will cover both briefed and unbriefed schemes, from concept and initial studies to full funding and project initiation to benefits realisation and closure. The Planner will ensure visibility and alignment with Thames Water’s business plan and Performance Commitments throughout.
They will also act as an expert adviser, providing support and training to maintain agreed minimum standards and improve the quality of data used for upwards reporting. Close cooperation with the Programme Planners in the Programme Management team to ensure alignment of the overall AMP7 delivery is essential to ensure that any issues can be resolved or escalated as appropriate.
Main Accountabilities
Maintain a portfolio of Project schedules within P6 ensuring that they are created in line with the appropriate templates, are updated on a monthly basis in conjunction with Project Manager and are aligned with any non-linked milestones recorded in SAP.
Support the Project Managers within the requirements for the monthly update and provide insight to the Project Managers regarding the resultant schedule durations and milestone forecasts arising from the updates discussed at each update review.
Work with allocated delivery office to ensure the following data in P6 is as accurate as possible:
Any unbriefed Value of Work Done (VOWD)
Unbriefed and briefed SKFs
Unbriefed and briefed milestones
Work with allocated delivery office to highlight any data conflicts or concerns to ensure these are addressed.
Work with the Project Controllers to ensure consistency and alignment with SAP for linked and non-linked milestones, and for unfunded cost forecasts.
Work with Programme planners in the programme management team to ensure alignment of the overall AMP7 delivery and that any issues can be resolved or escalated as appropriate
Plan the activities that need to be undertaken by the Project team ensuring outage plans are visible and interlinked with the contractor programmes of work
Review the contractor plans in line with the contract deliverables
Ensure that all auditable milestones have the correct documentation in place prior to being claimed
Actively engage with the TW Planning Community and ensure that the portfolio of Schedules are consistent with the standards and guidelines set out in the TW Business Management System (BMS).
Skills, qualifications, experience:
• Significant experience in applied programme delivery planning experience.
• A track record in hands-on delivery planning, utilising various planning tools, with Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project as a minimum.
• The ability to form good working relationships with different project managers and to adapt to preferred styles of update.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to analyse data and present findings to project managers and senior management teams.
