Job Purpose The Employability Tutor will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality employability and personal development training to adult learners, including individuals currently on probation or with offending backgrounds. The role is essential to supporting learners to develop the skills, confidence, and behaviours required to progress into sustainable employment, further education, or training. You will work as part of a dedicated team, supporting individuals who may have complex barriers to learning, helping them to build positive futures through tailored learning programmes. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and inclusive sessions focused on employability skills, personal development, and vocational topics Deliver accredited and non-accredited courses aligned to learner needs (e.g. CV writing, job search, interview techniques, digital skills, teamwork, confidence building) Develop and adapt learning materials and session plans to meet individual learning needs, including those with additional support needs or low literacy/numeracy levels Carry out robust initial assessments, induction, and individual learning plans (ILPs) for all learners Monitor and track learner progress against targets, providing regular feedback and support Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, reviews, and progression Promote and embed British Values, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and Safeguarding throughout delivery Motivate and support learners to overcome barriers to progression, including those related to previous convictions, low confidence, or challenging personal circumstances Liaise with probation services, support workers, and other partner agencies to ensure joined-up support for learners Contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum and learner experience Participate in team meetings, training, and quality assurance activities as required Person Specification Essential: Recognised teaching or training qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education and Training, PTLLS or equivalent) Proven experience of delivering employability, personal development, or life skills programmes to adults Ability to engage, motivate and support learners who may be disengaged or have multiple barriers to learning Strong knowledge of employability skills and the current UK job market Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills Ability to work flexibly, manage own workload, and adapt to learner needs Experience of working with vulnerable groups, including ex-offenders or those currently on probation Understanding of and commitment to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, and the Prevent Duty Confident with basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, online learning platforms) Desirable: Experience of delivering accredited qualifications (e.g. NCFE, City & Guilds, Open Awards) Experience of working in a Further Education, offender learning, or adult education environment Understanding of the criminal justice system and rehabilitation processes Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent in English and Maths Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (or willingness to work towards) Other Requirements This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including the adult barred list The post-holder must be willing to undergo safeguarding training and any other mandatory training as required Some travel between delivery locations may be required a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable but not essential Our Commitment We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals.
