About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and forward‑thinking Sexual Health Nurse to join our Nurse Practitioner team within our integrated sexual health service. This is a Nurse Practitioner role specialising in nursing practice development, offered as a one‑year fixed‑term contract to cover a career break.
We are looking for someone passionate about sexual health, keen to grow as a clinical leader, and committed to advancing nursing practice across the service.
Responsibilities
* Deliver expert nursing care across sexual health and contraceptive services, offering clinical leadership within the nursing team and wider MDT.
* Maintain high standards of nurse‑led care and lead initiatives to enhance patient experience and support the ongoing development of nursing practice.
* Assist in the delivery of an expert specialist nursing service for people requiring Reproductive & Sexual Health Services.
* Demonstrate advanced knowledge of STI management and contraception, and undertake specialist procedures including bimanual examination, proctoscopy, contraceptive implant insertion and removal, IUD insertion and removal, and specialist follow‑up clinics.
* Ensure the department provides a progressive learning environment for all grades of qualified and unqualified nursing.
* Support statutory and mandatory training as required for compliance.
* Promote and facilitate evidence‑based practice and clinical audit, raising the profile and enhancing nursing contribution to patient care and informing business and service development plans.
* Work collaboratively with other MDTs at Denmark Hill or Beckenham Beacon sites where care needs require.
* Actively participate in education events provided by the trust and primary care sector.
* Act as the education and training nursing lead for the Reproductive Sexual Health department.
Qualifications
Substantial Band 6 experience in sexual health, a recognised qualification in contraceptive care, and a letter of competence in contraceptive implant insertion, removal, and IUD insertion. Strong organisational skills, resilience, and a commitment to quality improvement and patient satisfaction are essential.
