Position Overview
We have a great opportunity to work and be part of our innovative and fun team, by joining Hospitality & Retail at FX Plus. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sous Chef to join our catering team working across both our Falmouth and Penryn campuses, to support our executive head chef in delivering an exceptional guest & student experiences by creating exciting and innovative food menus for a diverse multi‑cultural client base; whilst also developing their onsite teams by through coaching and leading by example.
Key Responsibilities
You will be a hands‑on chef, with the skills and flexibility to manage the food output across our portfolio (including Hospitality and VIP events, Catered Halls, multi counter lunchtime offering and breakfast services). The role will involve the day to day running of a kitchen, ensuring your team are meeting the highest levels of service and standards, including food safety and food hygiene and be able to support the Executive Head Chef with menu development, managing food budgets and departmental financial targets.
You will support our sustainability goals through recycling, minimise wastage, control costs and ensure the use of the best local produce known to Cornwall wherever possible.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
* Hospitality/Catering Qualifications or NVQ Level up to level 3.
* Minimum of Level 3 food hygiene and capable of ensuring you and the team are follow all HACCAP guidelines and company best practices.
* A customer focused mind‑set.
* Basic knowledge of setting menus and achieving GP’s.
* Have experience of working in a variety of different styles of catering/hospitality / bespoke events.
Alongside the above requirements candidates will have high standards with ambition and drive to manage their own personal development.

Working Hours
This post is offered on a 37.5 hour a week, full time basis working 5 days over 7 including some weekends and late evenings.
