About the Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional Data Protection Manager to join Staffordshire Police. This is a critical statutory role where you will play a vital part in protecting our data and ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. In addition to your responsibilities as Data Protection Manager, you will also act as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer (DPO), providing independent oversight and expert advice on all data protection matters.
This role is not just advisory – you will be a key influencer, advising the Deputy Chief Constable and other senior leaders. You will work independently to manage data breaches, lead compliance activities, develop robust internal policies, and drive compliance across the organisation. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with demonstrable experience in a senior data protection, legal, or governance role. Experience within law enforcement or the public sector would be a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement and maintain data protection policies and procedures. • Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. • Provide independent advice to senior leadership on data protection matters. • Handle data breaches and oversee incident response. • Lead internal and external audits related to data protection. • Deliver training and awareness programmes across the force. • Act as the point of contact for regulatory bodies and external parties regarding data protection.
Key Requirements
• Extensive experience in data protection, privacy law or similar governance role. • Knowledge of UK GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018. • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills. • Proven ability to lead and manage complex projects. • Experience working in a public sector or law enforcement environment is highly desirable.

Residency Eligibility
You will need to have been a resident in the UK for the last three years consecutively for RV Level roles and five years for MV Level roles (see below link around Vetting for more information).
