Salary: Competitive dependent upon experience + 4% shift enhancement
We’re looking for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join the Outpatients Department at The Wilmslow Hospital, currently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC. Conveniently located close to Wilmslow train station the hospital is made up of 13 consultant rooms; a full diagnostic imaging suite; 2 operating theatres and a dedicated women’s health unit. As a result, our Outpatients Department services a wide range of specialities, ensuring plenty of opportunity for our colleagues to develop in new areas, while retaining their broad clinical knowledge.
As a Sister/ Charge Nurse you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department. Reporting to the Matron you’ll act as a role model for the wider team, using your expert clinical knowledge to support them to deliver the exceptional standard of care we’re known for.
Key duties & responsibilities
1. Provide visible, effective leadership to the outpatient nursing team, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and professional behaviour
2. Line- manage band 5/6 nurses, HCA’s and admin support staff, including appraisal, supervision, sickness/absence management, and performance development.
3. Ensure delivery of safe, efficient, patient- centred care across all outpatient clinics
4. Maintain and role-model high clinical standards, supporting evidence-based practice and professional nursing competencies
5. Lead on Quality improvement initiatives within the outpatient department, using data and audit to drive change
6. Ensure compliance with CQC standards, infection prevention and control, medicines management and safeguarding requirements
7. Identify and address learning needs within the outpatient nursing team, ensuring appropriate opportunities and competency frameworks
8. Lead daily operational management of the outpatient department, ensuring adequate staffing, safe allocation of duties, and effective skill-mix
