Job Description
United Infrastructure (UI) is a dynamic and rapidly expanding business focused on delivering critical infrastructure projects. In early 2025 the UI Energy division was awarded a two‑stage engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project aimed at reducing emissions at Wormington Compressor Station, Gloucestershire. The project includes design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a new 15 MW gas turbine compressor site adjacent to the existing site.
The project forms part of National Gas’s MCPD programme to replace existing compressor units with new, state‑of‑the‑art equipment. UI is delivering the works as the main contractor, with detailed design and engineering undertaken by its specialist process and energy subcontractor, Kent.
Responsibilities of the position

* Provide Engineering Management capabilities within the Project Leadership Team, working collaboratively with the Project Director, Technical Director, Senior Project Manager, Commercial Manager, SHEQ Team and Planning Manager.
* Ensure construction engineering operations (directly employed and subcontracted) are safe, effectively coordinated and delivered in accordance with contract and project documentation.
* Act as the contractor’s technical authority, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, compliant, buildable and aligned with contractual, commercial and programme objectives.
* Lead the integration of civil, mechanical, electrical, C&I, process and gas systems design in a subcontracted Principal Designer environment.
* Manage engineering delivery under UK gas regulations, legislation, industry standards, codes of practice and client asset specifications.
* Oversee engineering interfaces with live and operational high‑pressure gas assets, identifying, controlling and mitigating risks.
* Support safety and design assurance activities (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, HAZCON, risk assessments, constructability reviews).
* Provide technical oversight of subcontract design organisations and OEM/vendor packages.
* Collaborate with the Project Director, Technical Director, Construction Manager, Commercial team and Client Design Coordinator to align engineering with construction delivery.
* Provide ongoing engineering support during construction, resolving site‑based technical issues promptly while maintaining compliance and design intent.
