About us

We are an independent, privately owned consultancy established in 1996, delivering world-leading Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to tackle complex industrial challenges. Our expertise lies in creating Smart Sensor Networks, designing and manufacturing cutting-edge wireless telemetry and data acquisition systems, focusing on machine learning, low power consumption, exceptionally low noise, and unbeatable performance.

Our technology is deployed worldwide, serving blue-chip companies across the renewable energy, mining, marine, defence, automotive, and rail sectors. We provide high-performance monitoring solutions for some of the world’s most demanding environments, enabling our clients to recover critical in-service load information with precision and reliability.

The Opportunity

Due to increasing demand for our services, we are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. You will work closely alongside Mechanical Engineers, Electronics Engineers, and Instrumentation Technicians, creating 2D and 3D CAD models for a wide range of applications including automotive, transport, power generation, military, naval, and industrial machinery. You will be required to liaise with clients to establish a design specification, and bring it to fruition. This role requires full project ownership, from inception through to completion, including design, 2D and 3D modelling, manufacturing drawings, installation, calibration, acquiring data, reporting and analysis.

Essential Skills & Experience

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or equivalent field.
* Excellent command of at least one CAD programme (ideally Autodesk Inventor, but not limited to).
* Strong understanding of tolerances and manufacturability of parts.
* Excellent understanding of torque, loading, stress, fatigue, and strain.

Desirable Skills & Experience

* Strong experience with the use of strain gauges and/or instrumentation.
* Strong understanding of noise, vibration, and/or resonance.
* Knowledge/experience of ultrasonic sensors design.

The ideal candidate will be talented, passionate and hard-working, with great intuition for real-world engineering problem solving. They will have excellent team-working abilities, good personal presentation, and communication skills for liaising with clients.

Our customers are based around the globe, and ideally, you would be able to travel for occasional on-site installation and troubleshooting work.

As this is a full-time office-based role, you would need to be able to commute to our office in Cramlington, Northumberland, or be willing to relocate.

Please note, we do not recruit through agencies.
