Multi Skilled Engineer
What this job involves:
1. Provide an “all round” engineering support, maintaining the buildings, primarily at the client site, in Birmingham. To provide the necessary support to the engineering helpdesk and shift team under the direction of the Lead Engineer.
2. Ensure any parts required are clearly and accurately stated.
3. Ensure that any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Lead Engineer.
4. To ensure safe, professional and conscientious conduct
5. Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a Daily basis
6. Responsible under the Lead Engineer for ensuring that all activities within the building are known and that they are being carried out with due regard to Health and Safety, maintaining the 100% uptime criteria.
What your day-to-day will look like:
7. Engineering Control Room, plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping.
8. Reactive works: Pro actively action work orders which are assigned, and to proactively assist to help reduce volume and work order age.
9. Assist with obtaining quotations and/or ordering of any parts required to maintain plant operation and/or system resilience.
10. Undertake and/or support ad-hoc requests from the Engineering Management Team.
11. To ensure all site tools/equipment and keys inventory are properly looked after
12. To follow all local processes and escalation procedures.
13. Be familiarised with standard and emergency operating procedures.
14. Duties to include assisting in fault finding on lighting and power circuits both 3 phase & single phase
15. Fault finding on control panels, Variable speed drives
16. Ensure completion of all tasks within agreed SLA’s
17. Ensure effective communication with the client and management team is maintained at all times.
18. All work to be carried out with minimal disruption to the service and business operations.
19. Operate as a team with other technicians by sharing expertise and experience to help resolve operational problems
20. Complete and update EHS documentation as required including the completion of tool box talks,
21. Required to complete both electrical, and handy man tasks and any works as directed by Lead Engineer or management.
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:
22. Be part of the on call system for site
23. To ensure that work orders both Reactive and planned are completed within agreed SLA’s
24. Ensure any materials are requested /ordered in a timely manner
25. AP Duties on site LV/HV
26. 2 years’ experience in Building Services industry
27. Apprenticeship served
28. Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff, or difficult situation
29. Pro-active in achieving the highest standard of operation
30. Spares ordering
31. Strong communication skills
Location:
32. A site-based role, working standard hours Monday – Friday 40 hours per week
33. Located on site at the clients offices.
