A popular Outstanding Secondary School in Hounslow is looking for a School Librarian / Library Manager to start in September 2024. This is a permanent position, directly employed by the school, with a salary range of £24,000 - £28,000 depending on experience.
As a School Librarian, you will ensure that the library is central to school life, fostering a culture of reading across the school and community, and promoting reading progress. The school values reading as a core part of the curriculum and aims to develop lifelong readers among pupils.
Additionally, if you aspire to become an English Teacher, the school offers salaried and funded teacher training starting from September 2026.

Role Details
- Lead the establishment of a well-resourced and inviting library for an Outstanding Secondary School.
- Make book recommendations from a collection of 7,000 books.
- Manage and maintain the school library and its resources.
- Identify and purchase quality resources aligned with the National Curriculum to ensure a diverse and inclusive reading offer.
- Teach pupils how to effectively use the library and enjoy reading.
- Promote reading enjoyment and excitement among pupils.
- Create a welcoming environment in the library and school.
- Support pupils outside of class through learning activities.
- Run reading interventions to improve literacy and love for reading.
**Salary & Hours:**
£24,000 - £28,000 per annum
200 working days per year
36-hour workweek
**Person Specifications:**
- Degree-level education
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience working in a library or similar environment
- Team player
- Willing to go above and beyond for pupils
