We are recruiting a Forensic / Clinical Psychologist to support the leadership of our projects, enhancing the delivery of services offered to patients who present with a risk to others. The role requires experience working within prison and/or secure care settings, and providing support and consultation to colleagues across teams in CWPT and partner criminal‑justice agencies.

We’re looking for a passionate, confident professional driven to improve outcomes for people with complex mental health needs within the criminal justice system. You’ll bring strong clinical confidence and experience in forensic settings, using your expertise to inform consultation, risk management and treatment recommendations. You will also be skilled at empowering and motivating others—helping multidisciplinary teams feel confident, capable and supported when working with highly complex cases.

A key part of the role is translating complex psychological concepts into clear, practical guidance that meaningfully changes how staff work with service users. If you enjoy influencing practice beyond direct clinical work, this role offers a real scope to do just that.

• Provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, using complex psychological data from a variety of sources, including forensic assessments and interventions of risk to others.
• Ensure systematic provision of psychological service, prioritising work appropriately.
• Communicate assessment results, formulations, outcome data and other complex and sensitive information orally and in written form to support colleagues.
• Provide specialist psychological advice, consultation and supervision to other professionals and staff contributing to the formulation, diagnosis, treatment plan and management of clients, both within and outside the Trust.
• Contribute to the development of services, reviewing service outcomes, designing and participating in audit, research and clinical governance initiatives, and working cooperatively with colleagues to achieve service goals and maximise service effectiveness.
• Provide supervision to other psychological staff, trainee clinical/counselling psychologists on placement, volunteers and other colleagues, including professional and doctoral research supervision where required.
• Manage junior Psychological Services staff.
• Offer formulation, reflective practice and case consultation to staff working with people who present with a risk to others.
