The Senior Environmental Consultant sits within the UK Environment and Sustainability team and reports to the UK Head of Climate and Environmental Sustainability. The role involves engaging with internal functions, business units, bid teams, client account teams, and technologists to implement the UK Climate & Environmental Sustainability Strategy and related programs. Externally, the role collaborates with suppliers to achieve net zero targets and enhances capabilities to measure and reduce the environmental impacts of digital services. The candidate should have a proven track record in environmental reporting, with strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and support UK operations and the parent company, Sopra Steria Group.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare annual GHG emissions and energy consumption data for disclosures such as SECR, ESOS, and others.
2. Support the development, implementation, and review of environmental plans and targets.
3. Ensure data accuracy and traceability in the ESG Dashboard.
4. Produce environmental KPI reports and maintain auditable evidence packs.
5. Analyze metrics to monitor performance and support climate-related risk management.
6. Write bid responses and advise client teams on reducing environmental impacts.
7. Calculate and report contract-level GHG emissions and produce environmental scorecards.
8. Establish methodologies for measuring environmental impacts of IT and digital services, including AI, and promote digital sustainability best practices.
9. Demonstrate experience in calculating Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, especially Purchased Goods & Services.
10. Possess knowledge of environmental impacts of IT and digital technologies, such as PUE of data centers.
11. Have technical expertise in Climate Change, Net Zero, Science Based Targets, and related areas.
12. Be familiar with UK Government environmental schemes like PPN 006 & 016.
13. Work effectively within large organizations, managing multiple objectives and deadlines.
14. Communicate ideas clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Masters degree in an environment or sustainability-related subject.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and Power BI.
* Experience with the CDP Climate Change questionnaire.
* Knowledge of EU Taxonomy and Data Centre Codes of Conduct.
