Responsibilities
* Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
* Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and overhauls on HGV engines, transmissions, brakes, and other mechanical systems.
* Utilize diagnostic tools to identify faults and carry out appropriate repairs efficiently.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed on HGVs.
* Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.
* Collaborate with fleet managers and other team members to coordinate repair schedules and minimize downtime.
* Order and manage spare parts inventory as required.
* Provide technical support and advice to drivers and other staff regarding vehicle operation and maintenance.
Requirements
* Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or heavy vehicle technician.
* Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.
* Experience with diagnostic equipment and fault-finding techniques for heavy vehicles.
* Ability to perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on HGVs.
* Good understanding of health and safety regulations related to heavy vehicle maintenance.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
* Relevant vocational qualifications or certifications in heavy vehicle maintenance preferred.
* Ability to work independently and efficiently manage workload.
