About the role

Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time | Temp to Perm | Immediate Start

Make a real difference. Start a meaningful career. Be part of something bigger.

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs? Have you worked in care, support work, youth work or a similar setting and are now looking to take that next step into education?

We are working in partnership with a forward-thinking SEN secondary school that is expanding over the next 12 months – creating exciting opportunities for dedicated individuals ready to begin a rewarding career in the classroom.

The Role:

• Full-time position within a specialist SEN secondary school
• Supporting students with a range of needs, including:
o ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) – including non-verbal students
o SLD / MLD (Severe & Moderate Learning Difficulties)
o PMLD (Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties)
• Working closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support and meaningful learning experiences
• Encouraging independence, communication, and social development
• Gaining hands-on classroom experience with full support and guidance

Why This Role Stands Out:

• Trainee Opportunity
Perfect for individuals looking to transition into education – no school-based experience required, just the right attitude and passion

• Temp to Perm Opportunity
Start with 12 weeks through Vision for Education (paid weekly), with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff

• Career Progression
With the school expanding, there are clear pathways into Instructor or Unqualified Teacher roles

• Supportive Environment
Join a passionate, nurturing team that will help you learn, grow and succeed

✅ What We’re Looking For:

• Experience working with young people or adults with additional needs (e.g. care, support work, youth work, residential settings)
• A genuine passion for SEN and a desire to build a long-term career in education
• A positive, proactive and resilient attitude
• Someone who is hands-on, willing to learn and ready to fully immerse themselves in school life

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience supporting individuals with ASC, SLD/MLD or PMLD
• Experience with personal care
• Moving and handling training
• Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton, AAC)

Important Dates:

• Immediate start available
• Interviews taking place between 22nd – 30th April
• Early applications strongly encouraged – roles like this fill quickly!
