Ophthalmic Scrub Practitioner

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our flagship Ophthalmology Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. In 2021 we opened our brand-new Eye Unit at Chorley Hospital.
The £17.5m investment in this new facility comprises of three purpose-built theatres, an outpatient department with more than 20 rooms, rapid eye assessment service and macular suite with two injection rooms.
The ophthalmology department provides a diagnostic and treatment services for patients with medical eye conditions.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for Scrub Practitioners who have a passion for providing high quality patient focused surgical care who have a flexible attitude towards work and a desire for new challenges. As a trust we are committed to the development of future healthcare professionals and theatres is pivotal to these trainees. As a qualified practitioner you would be expected to contribute to their development and support.

Job responsibilities
As an integral member of the operating theatre team, you would be directly involved in the following ophthalmic procedures:
Vitreoretinal surgery
Oculoplastic surgery
Strabismus surgery
Emergency and trauma surgery

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Registered nurse / ODP with current NMC/ HCPC registration
* Evidence of CPD
* Degree
* NMC Recognised mentorship qualification or willingness to working towards within 18 months
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to practice
* Awareness of current issues in practice
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
* Evidence of clinical competence in area of Ophthalmology Theatre.
* Knowledge of Leadership and Managemen
