As an Assistant Psychologist in the Community Neuro and Stroke Service, which provides specialist rehabilitation for people following a stroke or who have a neurological condition, you will be part of a friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary team. The team benefits from input from a Clinical Neuropsychologist, a Clinical Psychologist, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurse Specialists, Rehabilitation Assistants, and Administration staff.
The service is well established and provides community visits for patients within the Bath & North East Somerset area. The post involves providing psychological input to the Stroke Rehabilitation Beds based in the Sulis Unit at St Martins Hospital. You will be based at St Martin's Hospital in Bath with travel across the BANES catchment area, requiring a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Core hours are between 8am and 6pm, 7 days a week, with potential future requirements to operate within these hours.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting psychologists and clinicians in providing assessments, interventions, and therapeutic rehabilitation for adults with long-term neurological conditions or stroke.
2. Supporting patients in managing their conditions alongside the clinical team.
3. Completing neuropsychological and cognitive assessments.
4. Providing interventions such as cognitive rehabilitation, CBT, behavior management, guided self-help, and running psychoeducational groups.
5. Supporting research, audits, and training activities within the service.
6. Completing administrative duties as required.
Candidate Requirements:
* Honours degree in Psychology, eligible for graduate membership of the BPS.
* Experience working with service-users with neurological conditions.
* Understanding of the physical, psychological, and social impacts of neurological conditions.
* Experience administering and scoring neuropsychological tests.
* Ability to apply psychological knowledge to neuropsychological rehabilitation.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including report writing.
* Ability to manage caseloads and time effectively.
* Proficiency with IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
