About the Role
As the Reception Class Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a high-quality, play-based curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. You will support children aged 4–5 as they settle into school life, develop positive learning behaviours, and build strong foundations in communication, literacy, and numeracy.
You will create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that supports children’s emotional wellbeing, independence, and confidence. Working closely with teaching assistants, Early Years colleagues, and parents, you will ensure every child feels safe, supported, and excited to learn.
This role would suit an experienced EYFS teacher or an Early Career Teacher with a passion for Early Years and child development.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as a Reception Teacher will include:
• Planning and delivering engaging, play-based EYFS learning experiences
• Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating Reception environment
• Supporting children’s communication, language, and early literacy development
• Delivering early phonics, mark-making, and early mathematics activities
• Observing, assessing, and tracking children’s progress using EYFS frameworks
• Differentiating provision to meet individual needs, including SEND and EAL
• Supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development
• Establishing clear routines and expectations
• Working closely with teaching assistants and Early Years colleagues
• Building strong partnerships with parents and carers
• Supporting transitions and daily routines
• Upholding safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking a Reception Teacher who demonstrates:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching within an EYFS or Reception setting
• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
• A nurturing, patient, and child-centred approach
• Excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A reflective and proactive mindset
Desirable but not essential:
• Experience supporting children with SEND or speech and language needs
• Knowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.
