Business Unit
You will be based within the Aviation business unit in Birmingham, supporting the delivery of civil engineering works at Birmingham Airport and across the wider aviation portfolio.
The Aviation team delivers airside and landside civil engineering works across live operational airport environments, supporting long‑term frameworks, maintenance programmes and capital improvement schemes for major UK airports. Typical works may include airfield pavements, runways, taxiways and aprons; drainage, ducting and buried services; structures and concrete repairs; asset maintenance and planned renewals; and enabling works supporting major airport upgrades.
Responsibilities
* Assist site engineers with setting‑out, surveys and engineering checks
* Support quality inspections and ensure works meet client and regulatory standards
* Assist with daily site records, permits and reports
* Monitor health, safety and environmental compliance, particularly within airside areas
* Support the preparation of method statements and risk assessments
* Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and supervision staff
* Gain an understanding of airside safety procedures and operational constraints
Training & Qualification
You will study towards the Civil Engineer (Degree) Apprenticeship, delivered through part‑time or day‑release university attendance alongside your role.

Requirements
* Passionate about building a career in Civil Engineering
* Interest in aviation and complex infrastructure environments
* Motivated, proactive and keen to learn
* Strong communication, organisational and IT skills
* Willing to commit to a Degree Level Apprenticeship alongside full‑time employment
* Must be aged 18 or over by September 2026 (or approaching 18 at that time)
* Capable of passing security and background checks required for airside access
