Employee Relations Advisor Retail Location: Home-based with regular travel to Milton Keynes and stores (up to 25% travel required) Length: ASAP start until 28/02/2026, may be extended Type: Full-time, temporary position Pay: PAYE £150 per day plus holiday pay, or Umbrella company inside IR35 - £210 per day Were looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor with strong ER (Employee Relations) to join our clients Retail People Team. You will act as the primary point of contact for your allocated regional and store management teams, providing clear, confident and solution-focused Employee Relations advice. A key part of this role will be leading the management of long-term sickness cases across our retail network of approximately 350 stores. This is a home-based role with regular travel to our Milton Keynes office and retail sites. Key Responsibilities Act as the first point of contact for ER advice for assigned regional and store managers, including policy interpretation, risk analysis and recommended actions. Provide regional cover when needed. Lead and manage medium and high-risk ER cases through to resolution, including providing advice, drafting documentation, attending meetings and completing case administration with support from the People Relations Assistant. Manage all long-term absence cases, ensuring timely, fair and consistent interventions. Deliver effective coaching and training on ER topics, attend regional meetings where appropriate, and design/deliver ER workshops to enhance management capability. Manage the people elements of store movements into and out of the network, ensuring TUPE processes and legal requirements are met. Review and track themes from ER cases, Open Talks and Careline complaints, delivering interventions that improve performance and reduce repeated issues. Ensure HR systems, records and employee files are accurate, up to date and reflective of advice and actions taken. Support People Relations Lead with projects, change initiatives and continuous improvement of policies and processes. Maintain accurate compliance records, including visa checks and right-to-work requirements. Update and maintain policies, procedures and processes. What we are looking for Proven experience in a high volume ER or HR advisory role. Strong working knowledge of current employment law and HR best practice. Ability to interpret HR policies/processes and guide managers through complex ER cases. Experience delivering coaching, training or development sessions to enhance management capability. Background in a customer-focused function within a large, matrix or retail organisation. Practical understanding of ER processes, HR administration and the employee life cycle. CIPD qualification preferred.
