Technical Calculations Actuarial Consultant - Team Leadership - Nationwide

We will count on you to:
1. Collaborate and Lead: Work within a multi-disciplinary team on complex defined benefit modelling, utilising advanced actuarial skills to specialise in UK pension solutions.
2. Quality Assurance: Check and review complex calculations, ensuring accuracy and clear communication of results to consultants and support teams.
3. Drive Improvement: Develop and deliver knowledge-sharing initiatives, training sessions, and coordinate process rollouts across locations.
4. Build Relationships: Partner with internal teams to deliver seamless services across Mercer’s lines of business.
5. Support and Develop: Support the development of junior colleagues, lead performance reviews, and foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
6. Client Engagement: Engage with clients on actuarial projects to enhance your consulting skills.
7. Project Involvement: Participate in pension valuations, risk assessments, and benefit design projects, applying actuarial techniques to solve complex problems.
8. Team Leadership: Set team objectives, facilitate meetings, and ensure aligned efforts towards organisational goals.
What you need to have:
* Qualified or part-qualified actuary
* Experience in technical calculations for actuarial projects
* Strong understanding of UK Defined Benefit pension schemes and benefit calculations
* Excellent analytical, numerical, and critical thinking skills
* People management skills
