Overview
Vice President, Credit Risk Officer - Corporates Credit at Bank of America, London. The role manages and delivers credit relationships for corporate clients in accordance with the company’s growth strategy, risk appetite and underwriting standards within GCIB Credit.
Responsibilities
* Perform financial and credit analysis, risk rating analysis ensuring adherence to prevailing credit policy and procedures for an assigned portfolio.
* Independently assess credit worthiness, perform intensive qualitative and quantitative due diligence of prospective borrowers and/or trading counterparties and establish appropriate terms and conditions to mitigate risk.
* Structure transactions, underwrite and negotiate credit documentation designed to meet both client and investor needs including credit agreements, amendments, and derivative documentation.
* Ensure granularity of the portfolio with targets for net country/credit capital, legally binding commitments, total exposure and asset quality.
* Establish appropriate internal risk ratings for clients and implement accurate adjustments throughout the client’s credit life cycle.
* Ensure that the portfolio and credit management process are consistently rated as satisfactory by internal auditors, the Credit Review group and external Regulators.
* Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the product spectrum and portfolio at the client, industry, and macro level to assess risk and craft value-added solutions balancing risk.
* Develop, maintain, and manage internal relationships with business partners including Corporate and Investment Bankers, Sales & Trading, Risk Management, Syndications, and Legal.
* Participate in strategic projects to support business goals.
* Provide coaching and development to junior teammates.
What We Are Looking For
* Credit risk experience at a major international financial institution, analysing, assessing companies and knowledge of EMEA and specific industry sectors, structuring transactions and documentation.
* Experience analysing mid-market corporates and knowledge of structuring/documentation practices across industries.
* Effective credit skills, risk judgment and broad risk awareness impacting client and portfolio credit profiles and the ability to defend a fact-based point of view.
* BA/BSc degree (or equivalent); Finance, Accounting or Economics beneficial.
* Sound product/technical, documentation and process knowledge across lending, trade finance and derivative products (FX, rates, commodities, equities).
* Ability to lead change, influence corporate policy/procedure and project a positive strategic vision.
* Commercial mindset with strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication, attention to detail and accuracy.
* Fluency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ability to prepare/review company-specific financial models in Excel.
* Strong organisational skills, prioritisation under pressure, deal selection, negotiation, transaction management, and proactive credit risk management.
* Fluency in English; additional European language skills considered beneficial.
