Orthopaedic Consultant with an SI in Hand and Wrist Surgery

Role Overview
We are looking for a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in hand and wrist surgery to join the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department at North Devon District Hospital, part of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The post is a substantive, part‑time 5 PA position delivered on a hand‑and‑wrist only basis with no requirement to participate in the on‑call rota.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering hand and wrist surgical care, including elective procedures and specialist hand trauma.
* Contributing to the expansion and redevelopment of the hand and wrist service to meet increasing demand.
* Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including hand therapists and the hand and wrist service at Exeter, to provide joined‑up care across the Trust.
* Driving service development and leading subspecialist initiatives within the department.
* Maintaining predictable working patterns with no on‑call rota involvement.
Qualifications
• Foundation training in orthopaedics and trauma, with specialist interest in hand and wrist surgery (sub‑speciality or SI).
• Experience in a consultant role or equivalent in a similar environment.
• Strong clinical skills and commitment to patient safety.
