Role: Hygiene & Safety Compliance Officer - South

Malmaison & Hotel du Vin have 37 inspiring lifestyle hotels across the two exceptional brands within the UK. We’re looking for a Hygiene & Safety Compliance Officer to join us and play a vital role in the Health & Safety team covering the South region. You’ll be responsible for supporting Hotel Operations to undertake audits and ensure high standards of Health & Safety at all times, as well as supporting in the development, implementation and maintenance of first-class health & safety, fire and food safety practices and processes throughout the group in our ongoing pursuit of excellence.
What you'll be doing as Hygiene & Safety Compliance Officer:
1. Support the development and delivery of the Group internal audit programme, auditing all properties on a quarterly basis.
2. Conduct risk based inspections across the estate to ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety and Fire Safety requirements.
3. Ensure implementation and compliance with all relevant health & safety and food safety legislation and company policies.
4. Monitor and manage follow up actions from third party audits and enforcement authority findings.
5. Review, develop and continually improve health & safety and food hygiene policies and procedures.
6. Oversee statutory inspections, risk assessments and compliance across areas such as COSHH, fire safety, manual handling and DSE.
7. Monitor and support the effective operation of key Group safety contracts (e.g. pest control, kitchen deep cleaning).
8. Deliver or support safety related training including food safety, manual handling and fire safety.
9. Support new property acquisitions with safety inductions, processes, policies and compliance frameworks.
10. Act as a key point of contact for enforcement authorities and external stakeholders.
11. Investigate accidents and incidents, including food poisoning allegations, completing root cause analysis and reporting.
12. Contribute flexibly to additional safety and compliance initiatives as required by the business.
What are we looking for?
13. A proven Safety & Health practitioner, preferably with chartered status i.e. CMCIEH and or CMIOSH.
14. A specialist in health, safety, food and accident and complaint investigations.
15. Fully conversant with safety management systems, auditing, incident investigations, risk assessments and training.
16. Experience in coaching and supporting and training staff and new openings support.
17. Experience of delivering training/presentation skills.
18. Excellent verbal and written communication.
19. Ability to manage own workload and work under pressure.
20. Highly motivated and results driven individual, passionate about achieving results.
21. Self-motivated, however equally strong and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
22. Excellent organisational skills, time management, great eye for detail.
23. Systems literate, to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
24. This role will require travel across the UK, so an ability and willingness to travel is required.
