Salary Scale: NICS AA £25,796 per annum Location: Skainos Centre, Belfast Contract: Full time, fixed term up to 12 months We are recruiting for a Helpline Intern with ambition to progress within the housing advice sector and help us achieve our vision and mission. About the role You will work closely with the Helpline team, supervised by our Helpline Coordinatorsto: provide specialist, comprehensive, holistic advice and support on the core areas of housing issues, homelessness and housing debt via face-to-face, telephone and digital channels develop effective working relationships with service users, external agencies and stakeholders develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to progress to a Helpline Adviser role To succeed as a Helpline Intern, you will need: dedication to your learning and development journey and have a desire to learn quickly to be energetic about new opportunities to deepen your understanding of the organisation to be self-driven and passionate about achieving positive outcomes for our clients to be willing to take on responsibility and use your initiative This role is available on a full-time basis (37 hours), for up to 12 months, and will be based in the Housing Rights office. The successful candidate may be offered a role as Helpline Adviser, subject to funding and satisfactory completion of the six-month probationary period. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK. This role is not suitable as a placement. You will gain: recognised level 3 qualification within the advice sector improved level of knowledge in housing and generalist advice excellent support and guidance from colleagues, supervisors and managers work experience in a diverse environment regular feedback on your work and progress skills such as call handling, questioning, empathy, resilience, de-escalation, use of interpreters, case recording improved awareness of the impact of housing issues and homelessness in Northern Ireland About you You will bring: evidence of a higher education qualification in housing, law, or related discipline achieved on or before September 2026 experience of dealing with members of the public by telephone, online or on a face-to-face basis, in a customer service environment skills in the use of MS Office applications e.g. Outlook, Teams demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing good interpersonal and teamwork skills ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail About Housing Rights Housing Rights has been helping people in Northern Ireland deal with housing and homelessness problems since 1964.
