Responsibilities
* Support the UK and International Tax Manager in delivering all aspects of personal and partnership tax compliances for the firm's 146 partners (including former partners) in a timely manner.
* Preparation and maintenance of control schedules to ensure completeness of population for whom personal tax returns are required and recording where responsibilities lay; registration of partners as self-employed for National Insurance and self-assessment purposes including obtaining HMRC authorisations for the firm to act as a tax agent.
* Preparation of aide memoires for partners at the start of the new tax year; preparation of personal tax returns (including amendments to estimated prior year returns, where required) for review by the UK and International Tax Manager; computation of taxes due and dealing with any personal tax related issues including splitting liabilities; preparing banking instructions and supporting schedules in relation to payments, e.g. to HMRC; assistance with liaison with former partners and third party agents or advisers.
* Preparation of partners' tax return database, including reconciliation of the tax liability position to individual tax returns, to record the progress and status of tax returns, to track information received from partners to determine additional information needed to prepare tax returns, to analyse tax payments and to track pension contributions made by partners.
* Assistance with the bi-annual tax payments to HMRC and the accounting thereof.
* Work closely with the Partnership Accountant to review partners' tax reserves and input into the annual statement process.
* Contacting HMRC regarding partners' tax affairs, making the disclosure and assisting with enquiries.
* Assistance with the preparation of the LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) tax computations and corporation tax return review for the operating businesses. This will include producing an analysis of the accounting entries for the tax computation, adjusted taxable profit calculations and capital allowance calculations.
* Checking payroll and P11D records prepared by external advisors to ensure it is correct and complete.
* Assistance with employment tax queries.
* Assistance with PSA calculation such as analysis of expenses.
* Assistance with VAT returns for the UK entities, review transactions to ensure VAT is accurately applied and claimed.
* Assistance with other taxation queries such as VAT, witholding tax, and IR35.
* To undertake any specific training when required and overall responsibility towards self-development.
* Assistance with other Finance department duties as reasonably required.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
* Qualified ATT, ACA, ACCA or Qualified by experience from accountancy practice background.
* Personal tax experience, willingness to learn about other taxes is desirable.
* Highly organised, hands-on individual
* Good communicator at all levels across the business
* IT Literate proficient in excel reporting including LOOKUP formulas etc.
* Experience using CCH, IRIS tax software.
* Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail with a methodical and logical approach
* Maintain an up-to-date technical knowledge on relevant tax matters
* High levels of confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy.
* Flexible and willing to undertake ad hoc projects and duties within the Finance team.
