An opportunity has arisen for a person to join the PMAV Team, PMAV sits within Occupational Health & Safety and includes Moving & Handling training. The vacancy is for the role of PMAV Tutor full time 37 hrs permanent position.

We are looking for someone who is either clinical or non-clinical, enthusiastic and confident, with empathy for staff, patients, relatives and can represent our organisation to deliver PMAV training to both internal and external staff, this is a physically demanding role so the candidate needs a good level of physical fitness and be able to demonstrate PMAV techniques to a good standard of accuracy and consistency to all grades of staff.

This post would provide an ideal opportunity for an individual with an understanding or willingness to learn about Trauma Informed Care, Stress and Distress within an NHS environment. This post also includes support and advisory role including risk assessments across the organisation. The role also includes support to staff with Lone Working, Lone Working Monitoring Systems and Personal Safety advice and risk assessments.

It is preferred that the candidate understands appropriate physical intervention skills to manage a range of preventative measures when managing aggression and violence.

As part of the PMAV Team you would be working with all grades of staff and individuals (patients, visitors and clients), particularly in relation to complex care management plans, which can include distressing situations. To deliver an effective service it is essential that the candidate can travel between bases in a timely manner and be flexible to the needs of the service.

If the successful candidate does not hold a current GSA Grade A Instructor Certificate, they would need to be available to attend a three-week (external) tutor course, venue and date to be confirmed, the permanent post would be subject to the successful candidate achieving Grade A Tutor Status.

Interview date Tuesday 30th September 2025, format will comprise of both a formal and practical session: -

* 15-minute formal presentation which should be in power-point format

“How would you reduce aggression and violence in health care settings, with an explanation and evidence to support your theory?”

* A 2hr group physical intervention technique taster session, candidates would be required to wear appropriate clothing (no shorts or cropped/vest tops) including toe and heel enclosed flat shoe, trainer style, and be able to participate fully in the session including, standing, seated, kneeling and mat work.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa.
