The Department of Laboratory Haematology at Oxford University Hospitals operates across all hospitals in Oxford and the Horton in Banbury. This post supports a specialist section based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. The position is for hours per week, with some out-of-hours work expected.
We seek candidates with strong laboratory knowledge and skills, as this role involves more specialized biochemical testing.
The department is a major part of the hospital's laboratory services, analyzing over a million tests annually across routine and specialist areas, supporting all clinical specialties within hospitals, in the community, and across a wider geographical area.
Key responsibilities
1. Prepare specimens for the Flow Cytometry / Morphology section, including requesting, pre-analytical handling, and analysis on automated instruments.
2. Maintain understanding of the testing purpose and laboratory analyzers.
3. Operate analyzers according to standard procedures, ensuring health and safety, and adhering to quality management standards.
