An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and suitably experienced nurse, to develop their skills, knowledge and management experience and work alongside nurses and medical staff to enhance the patient experience within the Hospital out of Hours (HOOH). The benefits are improved medical provision for patients within the Admission Units, Medical and Surgical directorates offering a more consistent approach to service provision.
Applicants are expected to be able to work on both the Northern General Hospital and Royal Hallamshire Hospital/Weston Park Hospital sites.
Includes Nights, twilight shifts and weekend day shifts including bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
The role will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team which comprise of Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Doctors in Training and Medical Consultants, as well as the more traditional health care roles.
The nurse coordinator will work within a defined scope of practice and to agreed standards applied within a local setting.
The role will be multi factorial and improve the quality of and access to health care provision and strengthen professional leadership.
The post holder will be responsible to the Matron of the HOOH team. The Nurse Coordinator will be expected to utilise their skills and knowledge in the triage, assessment, prioritisation and allocation of patient tasks in the acute setting.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Valid with NMC)
* Demonstration of Management/Leadership skills and aptitude
* Post-graduate (Level 6) Education
* To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
* Further post-registration education relevant to acute inpatient care.
* Subject specific training relevant to acute inpatient care.
Experience
* Extensive post registered experience, a considerable amount which must be as a fully trained Nurse within an acute or unscheduled care setting
* Experience of team Leadership / management
* Evidence of personal professional development
* Ability to work autonomously.
* An understanding of patient co-ordination/ care prioritisation in a busy acute area
* Experience with supervising/ developing others (including giving feedback)
* Previous experience within a HOOH service
