Job Description
Duties and responsibilities
• Responsible for execution of the backhaul activity with stretching revenue growth targets to be delivered YOY.
• Responsible for the day-to-day management of Sainsbury's transhipment planning across several sites ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met.
• Responsible for event planning of promotional volume into the Sainsbury's network, including engagement of senior stakeholders and network planning teams, operational transport and warehouse teams and haulier management teams
• Support the Central Transport Manager in providing operational leadership in all aspects of planning the operation and providing KPI and financial reporting.
• Build credible, influential relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating collaboration internally and externally to deliver high service levels
• Work cross-functionally within the Sainsburys contract and wider Wincanton Group teams building long-term planning strategies to achieve business objectives.
• Demonstrate a CI mindset, analysing current operational processes and performance, recommending and delivering solutions to improve.
• Develop, present and oversee the creation of reporting, ensuring required outputs are completed in a timely and accurate manner to strict deadlines.
• Control of the third-party haulier payment process, responsible for the process of paying hauliers accurately with a significant annual spend.
• Promote high colleague engagement and act as a role model for organisational culture and values.
• Lead, inspire and engage the Central Transport team with support from the Central Transport Manager. Demonstrate and drive outstanding performance by supporting, developing and coaching colleagues.
• Continually evaluate skill sets within the team, proactively identifying future talent and building succession plans whilst implementing development plans to address gaps.
Experience, Skills, and Attributes
• Self-motivated, team player able to work autonomously with minimum supervision.
• Proven decision-making skills, excellent attention to detail with high accuracy levels and ability to analyse information
• Excellent people skills and able to manage, motivate and develop colleagues
• Strong ability to communicate with and influence internal and external stakeholders, including meetings with customers, conveying facts, data and ideas in a clear and articulated manner.
• Experience in presenting, reporting and communicating to a senior management audience
• Proactive with a can-do attitude and agile mind-set, with the ability to form strong working relationships with all levels of the organisation
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex and dynamic environment with significant change, ambiguity and adapting to evolving requirements
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, to be able to "connect the dots" and approach issue resolution with a "forward-looking" view to anticipate and address problems
• Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure
• Previous experience working and planning in Ortec, at a Network or Multi-Site level is ideal
• Employee base is flexible but must be available to be in Rugby on a regular basis within the week, and as required. Occasional travel around the wider network will be necessary.
