Job Introduction
Are you interested in inspiring and motivating young people to achieve their potential? We are looking for a Functional Skills / GCSE English Tutor to deliver engaging and relevant sessions to young people.
Due to recent changes in UK immigration law, we are unable to offer skilled worker visa sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the requirements.
About the Role
InspireU learning environments are small and friendly, with class sizes of no more than 14-16 students. We have sites across Lincolnshire at Boston, Grantham, Lincoln, Louth, Ruskington, Skegness, and Spalding.
We have a part-time vacancy (18.5 hours per week) for a Functional Skills / GCSE English Tutor to work with learners aged 16-24. The role involves delivering sessions two days a week (Wednesday at Grantham and Thursday at Ruskington), with an additional half day of departmental duties (Monday), which can sometimes be performed from home.
In this role, you will deliver inspiring and engaging sessions where learners can develop English skills necessary for adulthood and employability. Our teaching ethos emphasizes active learning and adaptive teaching methods.
You will deliver qualifications from Entry 1 to Level 2 Functional Skills / GCSE English, as well as our RARPA-based curriculum, which focuses on recognizing and recording progress through non-accredited learning. We value learners' starting points and aim to ensure all make progress. Our vision is for every learner to realize and achieve their potential.
About Us
You will be part of a small, close-knit team that offers diverse opportunities to support learners. The team includes Tutors, Wellbeing Coaches, Job Coaches, Provision Management, and Employment Officers. Excellent spoken English and the ability to communicate confidently with customers are essential.
About You
The ideal candidate may hold a teaching qualification and have experience working with vulnerable young people, including those with challenging behaviour or Special Educational Needs. We also consider applications from unqualified tutors eager to train towards full qualification. InspireU offers support through training, mentoring, and coaching alongside classroom teaching.
You should have effective behaviour management skills, be willing to travel to other sites, and possess a solutions-focused, 'can do' attitude. If you have the necessary experience, skills, and enthusiasm or are seeking your first teaching role, we look forward to hearing from you.
