Community Administrator - Launceston & Tamar

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to join us in East Cornwall, whose primary function will be to support the Launceston and Tamar Valley Community Nursing Team. This role, as part of a job‑share, supports the team based in Launceston Hospital and includes occasional independent travel to Callington Community Clinic, for which mileage is reimbursed.

The role will include the management of referrals from entry into the team through to discharge and interacting with patients, carers and other health and social care professionals.

The administrators support clinicians in their management of patient activity which includes appointments, inputting on to rosters, monitoring and maintaining registers and databases with IT literacy being a key skill. Ordering and management of stock and equipment is a key function within this role. There is an element of patient‑facing contact mainly via the telephone but on occasion in person. Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be articulate and have a keen eye for detail. Ability to maintain patient and staff confidentiality is an essential aspect of this role.

* Managing referrals to the team via electronic systems and clinical record keeping systems
* Arranging meetings, preparing agenda, note taking and distributing papers
* Support clinical staff at weekends by liaising with patients, gathering information for clinical staff from MDT and using electronic systems to ensure safe and effective communication
* Assist with HR, workforce and recruitment paperwork
* Act as first point of contact for telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries by patients, their relatives and carers, health and social care professionals, referrers and the general public
* Photocopying various documentation
* Answer telephone, deal with enquiries, direct as appropriate, take accurate messages and forward to relevant person/department
* Sorting of incoming mail and distributing to addressed department / individual

Education, qualifications and experience

* NVQ 3 Administration or equivalent experience
* Computer literate and competent in use of Microsoft office applications
* Good literacy and numeracy skills


Skills and Aptitude

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to prioritise own workload and work unsupervised
* Organisation skills and Accuracy


Knowledge and abilities

* Accurate typing and keyboard skills
* Previous experience in a healthcare office environment
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Knowledge of CFT IT systems
