Are you an inspiring and strategic PE leader looking to shape the future of physical education and enrichment in a thriving, values-driven secondary school?
Edgar Wood Academy is seeking a passionate and dynamic Head of PE and Whole School Enrichment (Female) to join our growing school community. You will lead a high-performing PE department and take strategic responsibility for designing and coordinating a vibrant enrichment programme that fosters student development beyond the classroom.
Please note:
This post is open to female applicants only, as the role requires delivering aspects of the PE curriculum to female students and providing pastoral care in settings where gender-specific provision is a business necessity. This requirement complies with the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, which permits such an occupational requirement where it is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.
What you’ll do:
* Lead the PE department with vision and purpose, delivering a broad and inclusive curriculum across KS3 and KS4 (currently including OCR Cambridge National in Sport Science).
* Champion a whole-school enrichment offer that builds character, develops cultural capital, and broadens student horizons.
* Inspire students to embrace healthy, active lifestyles and to embody our school values: Resilience, Empathy, Responsibility, and Respect.
* Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to enrich student experiences, both within and beyond the sports field.
What we’re looking for:
* A qualified teacher with proven success in teaching PE at KS3 and KS4.
* Experience in leading vocational qualifications and whole-school enrichment initiatives.
* A confident and empathetic leader who can motivate teams and make a measurable impact on student outcomes.
* A role model who lives our values and is committed to nurturing every child’s potential.
At Edgar Wood Academy, we are proud to be part of the Altus Education Partnership, and we benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and a strong commitment to professional development. As a member of our team, you’ll join a school that is ambitious, inclusive, and deeply rooted in its local community.
