Thank you for your interest in this exciting, fixed term role as Team Lead Physiotherapist in acute stroke rehabilitation. The Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) is a -bedded unit delivering hyper-acute and acute services to stroke survivors aiming to maximise recovery, patient experience and quality of life. The ASU MDT work as a cohesive unit and consistently score highly for quality outcomes in the national sentinel audit. Physiotherapy services are critical to the quality and operational performance of the stroke clinical service unit, as well as facilitating excellent service user outcomes and experience.
This role will work collaboratively with the Occupational Therapy team lead, the head of therapies office, and stroke medical and nursing leadership to:
·Enhance the quality of stoke services and rehabilitation, seeking to improve outcomes and operational performance
·Lead the service to offer a highly responsive and clinically excellent therapy service critical to the performance of the stroke pathway
·Support the development of a workforce that are highly skilled and capable in delivering person-centred, evidence-based therapy and rehabilitation through the implementation of a learning and development curriculum.
·Lead on the implementation of a rehabilitation-sensitive performance outcomes framework that captures and enhances the impact of therapy on the quality of what is delivered and the experience offered to patients.
Main duties of the job
·To provide clinical expertise, and effective team leadership and management to the acute stroke physiotherapy team
·To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own clinical practice
·To deliver advanced knowledge and skills in acute stroke care management and rehabilitation
·To nurture and maintain a culture of delivering high quality physiotherapy services underpinned by robust evidence and delivered within the means of the department.
·To lead the physiotherapy team and its staff ensuring that professional and organisational standards are upheld.
·To effectively contribute to good clinical governance and performance of the team reporting directly to through the Therapies governance structure.
·To work collaboratively with the Head of Therapies and other departmental leads to design and implement a service strategy that aspires to be highly responsive, person-centred and clinically excellent.
·To be an integral part of the clinical and leadership structure within the Therapies Clinical Service Unit (CSU) and actively contribute to the department’s programme of work aiming to continuously improve the quality and efficacy of therapy services.
- To work collaboratively with the clinical and managerial leaders of acute stroke services contributing to the strategic objectives of the respective department.
