You will play a vital part in engaging communities, using your communication, marketing, and outreach skills to encourage members of the public to become blood donors. A key aspect of the role is coordinating and delivering community engagement activities to ensure we have the right volume and mix of donors to meet patients’ needs today and in the future.
You will also contribute to national campaigns, adapting and implementing them across your region.
We have multiple opportunities available across London, with a base at our Tooting Centre. This is a dynamic, mobile role that involves travel, so flexibility is essential. Occasional weekend and Bank Holiday work may be required. While hybrid working is available, attendance at community events is a core part of the role
You may be required to work a variety of working patterns dependant on the type of event, which would include working at weekends and on a Bank Holidays
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will be supporting the delivery of the community engagement strategy within the donor experience directorate. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Co-ordinating the delivery of regional engagement and to ensure success and that we have the right volume and mix of donors to meet patients’ needs, today and in the future.
2. Holding responsibility for developing a local plan of activity to ensure they help to meet the organisations aims and objectives.
3. Having a strong focus on coordinating and delivering local activities that promote the registration and donation of RO blood, with a focus on high Black Heritage populated areas.
4. Although focused on blood, there is also a need to consider how the roles can help raise awareness and deliver against organ, plasma, stem cell and bone marrow donors.
5. Proactively approaching to local community groups/partners, event leaders, businesses and Community Grants Programme NHSBT funded projects, as agreed with their line manager / within the strategic plan to meet organisational objectives.
6. Working closely with relevant colleagues to ensure that contact with partners and stakeholders is managed consistently and effectively.
7. Working closely with the marketing campaigns team to ensure that opportunities for campaign activity identified through partnerships are effectively progressed.
Willingness and ability to travel, spend time away from base, and work weekends or bank holidays as required particularly during campaign periods to meet the post’s requirements and deliver strategic objectives.

9. Enthusiastic and personable, able to build strong relationships with the public, donors, and corporate, charity, and public sector contacts.
10. Skilled in gathering and analysing information to support decisions and strategy.
11. Committed to excellent customer care and responding effectively to customer needs.
12. Experienced in planning and delivering events
13. Proficient in social media, print, digital, and email communications, with flexibility to take on new challenges.
Qualifications and Training
14. Degree or degree equivalent knowledge
15. Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD)
