Role Overview
Join our engineering design team for the inspection and assessment of fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings and facilities. In this role, you will liaise with external designers, construction, and building professionals on a wide range of projects. You’ll have the opportunity to develop skills in fire‑specific design software, conduct research across various skill groups, and visit sites to monitor the implementation of fire strategies and the construction of fire safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Liaise with external designers, contractors, and building professionals on diverse projects.
* Utilise and develop proficiency in fire‑specific design software.
* Conduct research across various fire safety skill groups.
* Visit sites to monitor implementation of fire strategies and the installation of fire safety systems.
* Contribute to a range of varied and high‑profile clients from day one.
* Support continued learning and development as a fire engineer, including support for professional qualification progress.
Qualifications & Skills
* Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a prediction of 2:2 or above in a relevant subject necessary for engineering chartership, e.g. Fire Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Applied Mathematics.
* Architectural degrees with relevant fire safety modules may be considered.
* Excellent written English with evidence of prior work and strong numerical skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Creative problem‑solving ability.
* Independent and team‑oriented work style with organised approach to deadlines.
* Proactive initiative and inquisitive mindset.
Compensation & Benefits
Basic salary range: £40,000‑£45,000 per annum (for a 40‑hour week). Overtime available. Company van provided.
Additional Information
Start date: September 2026 (subject to contractual arrangements). Closing date: 6th December 2025 (early applications encouraged; role may close before the advertised date). Location: United Kingdom – candidates may indicate preferred Arup office locations. Note: No visa sponsorship will be offered; applicants must have qualifying right to work permanently in the UK.
