What you’ll be doing
as a Principal Civil Engineer
Focusing on the Civil Engineering Infrastructure discipline, in this role, you will provide the expertise needed to:
1. Get precise technical requirements for the Project Definition Briefs.
2. Input and continuously improve Technical Asset Standards.
3. Provide design sign-off to Capital Delivery as the Delivery Stream dictates.
4. Provide Technical assurance during the delivery, commissioning, and handover of Assets.
5. Drive the advancement of the water infrastructure engineering discipline.
6. Ensure and deliver the Engineering Regulatory compliance on relevant assets in the Civil Engineering area.
7. Manage, support, and develop a growing team of engineers.
Base location: Hybrid - Clearwater Court - RG1 8DB
Working pattern or hours: 36 hours, Mon- Fri
What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:
8. Be an industry expert on pipelines within the UK and/or the international Water Industry.
9. Understand the regulatory environment required to achieve compliance with our Engineering regulatory requirements.
10. Have excellent knowledge of National Codes and Design Standards for water mains and associated appurtenances (e.g. valves, meters, pumps, etc. )
11. Have experience in the design and rehabilitation of pressurised and non- pressurized pipelines and sewers.
12. Be a credible leader with the drive and energy to deliver, leading and supporting your team whilst ensuring a culture of safety and performance management.
13. Deliver continuous professional development and take an active approach to drive diversity within Engineering in Thames Water.
14. Have highly developed communication, influencing and interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence senior colleagues.
15. Have a Chartership through a relevant awarding body or be working towards a degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
16. Be a recognised leader in Civil Engineering with substantial expertise in the water industry.
17. Have Membership of a reputable pipeline association. ( e.g. the Pipelines Industries Guild )
