Role Information
The school is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or experienced Deputy DSL ready to step up.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead
* Lead safeguarding procedures in line with KCSIE and statutory guidance
* Manage referrals to social care, CAMHS, police, and external agencies
* Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings (CP, CIN, TAC, MASH)
* Maintain accurate safeguarding records using CPOMS/MyConcern
* Train staff on safeguarding, updates, and policy changes
* Oversee early help assessments and intervention plans
* Work closely with pastoral, SEN, behaviour and attendance teams
* Ensure robust whole-school safeguarding culture and compliance
* Provide clear guidance and emotional resilience when supporting students
This is a pivotal leadership role requiring exceptional judgement and professionalism.
Requirements
* Experience as DSL or Deputy DSL in a school
* Advanced safeguarding training (Level 3 minimum)
* Excellent understanding of KCSIE, statutory processes & multi-agency work
* Strong record-keeping and decision-making skills
* Ability to lead staff training and oversee whole-school systems
* Calm, resilient, confidential, and compassionate approach
