Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated School Place Planning Officer to work with the local council. The role involves working with the Access and Provision Manager North/South to ensure children can obtain school places promptly, acting as the main contact for parents and carers regarding school admissions, and supporting the management team to ensure policies align with the School Admissions Code.
The role is 3 days a week hybrid working. Occasional site visits may be required.
Responsibilities:
1. Support the Access and Provision Manager North/South in developing long-term education planning strategies for Swindon, ensuring future demand is thoroughly researched and planned.
2. Ensure that all commissioned activities are evidence-based and outcome-focused, with strong partnerships with stakeholders and partner agencies.
3. Lead statistical analysis of forecast information within place planning areas and present findings to headteachers.
4. Ensure activities deliver value for money and expenditures adhere to financial controls.
5. Lead or participate in education re-organisation processes, conducting them efficiently and sensitively.
6. Implement arrangements for new school provisions.
7. Support all aspects of the Education Place Planning section's work, being flexible to assist staff and customers.
8. Lead or participate in statutory processes for school expansions and re-organisation proposals, including school amalgamations.
9. Assist in preparing and submitting bid documentation related to school place planning and implementation.
10. Provide expert advice on legislation and respond to inquiries from service areas and developers.
11. Undertake briefings for Members, Governors, and Headteachers as needed.
12. Manage projects related to school re-organisation and capital implications.
13. Maximise external funding sources for infrastructure needs.
14. Manage budgets, including reporting, reconciliation, and financial projections.
15. Support the Access and Provision Manager North/South with information for briefings and reports.
Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent or relevant experience preferred.
* Significant office experience, preferably within the education sector.

All pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanency later.
