Alan Gemmell MP is seeking a dedicated and organised caseworker to join his constituency team and support the residents of Central Ayrshire.
This is a full-time position with remote or hybrid working arrangements by agreement. Working 4 days per week will be considered.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:-
* Manage a large caseload of complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required.
* Ensure cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
* Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
* Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters.
* Respond professionally, sensitively, confidentially, with care and integrity to routine correspondence and enquiries.
* Assist with casework and resident related meetings and follow up as appropriate.
* Attend constituency meetings as appropriate.
Skills Required:-
* Knowledge of the Central Ayrshire constituency.
* Understanding of the role of an MP.
* Polite, confident and with an empathetic approach to public engagement and a good telephone manner.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
* Proficient in Office 365 and casework management software.
* Ability to handle difficult or emotive situations in a sensitive manner, and deal with senior stakeholders.
* Interest and willingness to learn and keep up to date about relevant casework areas e.g. welfare, pensions, immigration.
* There may be requirement to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.
* Applicants should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
