Job Advert: KS3 Special Needs Teacher (Full Time)

About The School
We are a secondary special school for learners aged
11 to 19
with complex learning needs. We support pupils with
severe learning difficulties (SLD)
,
profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
, communication needs, physical disabilities, ASD, and related challenges. The school has around students, small class sizes, and a curriculum designed to develop communication, functional life skills, independence, social, moral, emotional and creative learning. Therapies (speech & language, physiotherapy, occupational therapy) and multi‐agency professionals are embedded in how we work. Because PMLD is part of our cohort, personal care may be required as part of the role.

The Role: KS3 Special Needs Teacher (Full Time)

As a Full-time KS3 Special Needs Teacher, You Will

* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for Key Stage 3 learners with a range of special educational needs, including pupils with PMLD.
* Work on individualised Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), setting targets and tracking progress specifically around communication, functional life skills, social, emotional, moral education.
* Collaborate with therapists and other professionals (e.g. speech & language, OT, physio) to embed therapy goals into learning.
* Support pupils with personal care needs as required, ensuring dignity and high standards of hygiene and well-being.
* Manage classroom assistants or additional staff in the classroom; ensure a safe, nurturing, structured learning environment.
* Maintain assessment, reporting, and record-keeping in line with school policy.
* Contribute to broader school life: behaviour management, safeguarding, working with parents/carers, and supporting transitions.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required
We are looking for candidates who:

* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England.
* Have prior experience working with children with special educational needs, especially in settings supporting SLD, PMLD, or severe/profound learning difficulties.
* Understand and use different communication systems (e.g. AAC, Makaton, PECs, etc.) depending on pupils' needs.
* Can work closely with therapists and embed therapeutic strategies into teaching.
* Are compassionate, resilient, patient, with high expectations, creativity, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt teaching to very diverse learning needs.
* Good organisational skills, ability to assess, monitor and report on learners' progress.
