Overview
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering manufacturer that designs and builds high-specification water treatment and filtration systems. This position offers the chance to take real ownership of design projects from concept through to manufacture, playing a key part in developing innovative solutions for industrial clients.
You’ll be part of a friendly, technically experienced design team and will produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation to support both sales and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and produce reverse osmosis and water treatment plant designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software packages.
* Prepare detailed structural frame layouts, piping configurations, and pressure vessel assemblies, utilising a variety of design tools and CAD features.
* Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including manufacturing drawings, parts lists, and bills of materials, ensuring information flows accurately to the production teams.
* Generate precise machining and fabrication drawings for internal workshops, supporting both mild and stainless-steel production.
* Compile full assembly visuals and layout drawings (2D and 3D) to guide fabrication, integrate into proposals, and assist during client presentations.
* Manage design data libraries and material planning items to help streamline manufacturing schedules and processes.
* Play an active role in improving and standardising design processes, helping to implement best practices and maintain design continuity across projects.
* Control and maintain drawing files using Vault or equivalent data management systems to ensure traceability and version control.
* Assist in product development and testing through finite element analysis (FEA), verifying component strength and performance.
* Work closely with internal and external teams to troubleshoot design challenges and apply corrective or preventative measures as required.
* Undertake occasional site visits to assess installation conditions or capture survey data for new projects.
* Provide day-to-day technical guidance to colleagues, particularly apprentices or developing engineers, depending on your level of seniority.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong background in mechanical design using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
* A solid understanding of mechanical systems, pressure vessels, or pipework design within a manufacturing or project environment.
* Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and deliver to agreed timescales.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Benefits
* Competitive matching pension scheme
* Annual company performance bonus
* Life assurance and income protection after qualifying period
