Offer description

Christ Church Bridlington Network (CCBN) is an ‘extra-ordinary’ church and we are looking for an ‘extra-ordinary’ Priest in Charge. We are 1 Network with 11 churches across 7 locations who all share the same vision of making disciples and building community in all we do. We are committed to the charismatic, evangelical tradition and our vision and values can be summarised as ‘Renew, Restore, Rebuild’. Being on mission with Jesus, and being disciples who make disciples is at the heart of all we are, and all we do. We seek to be intentional in this as we serve the needs of our largely deprived community and aim to continually plant new missional communities.

Our new Priest in Charge will embrace our values and style. They will be marked by their love for Jesus and an expectation to see Him transforming lives. They will bring a missional outlook, be an encourager with a pastoral heart and be able to hold our Network in a non-anxious manner. Committed to releasing lay and ordained colleagues into leadership, they will be comfortable taking faith-filled risks.

You will not be on your own – there is an extensive Ministry Team of ordained and lay colleagues, and prayerful congregations who will love and welcome you. We work closely with the wider Diocese, who are formally recognising us as a Diocesan Resource Church, and we trust you will find valuable colleagues in the Deanery and beyond.

God has taken us on an encouraging journey in recent years, and we are looking for a new leader who believes that even greater things lie ahead!

Main Responsibilities

1. To oversee mission and ministry across whole area served by the wider Network.
2. To uphold the vision and values of the Network and to ensure that the Network’s mission and ministry is both shaped by them, and consistent with them
3. To embrace the existing priorities set by the Network, and in time to collaboratively set fresh ones
4. To be a ‘non anxious’ presence for all, holding the various and competing demands of church life with gentleness, clarity and care
5. To lead, enable and work collaboratively with the Ministry Team, Network Leaders and Churchwardens
6. To ensure the Admin and Op’s team works effectively and is well managed
7. To work closely with the Bishop of Hull, the Director of Mission & Ministry and other diocesan officers in ensuring Christchurch is embedded in the wider diocesan strategy for discipling and evangelism
8. To be an active member of the deanery, and a member of the Deanery Leadership Team

About Us

Our mission and ministry relies on thousands of people - lay and ordained, volunteer and paid. Our diocesan teams provide a wide range of support services to our mission and ministry, including lifelong learning for ministry, the care of church buildings, and safeguarding. Together, we are striving to be a people who are ‘Living Christ’s Story’. We want to be a simpler, bolder, humbler church which in its diversity reflects the communities it serves. We are bringing renewed focus and fresh energy to achieving our aims:

* Becoming more like Christ
* Reaching those we currently don't
* Growing missionary disciples
* Transforming our finances and structures

Our approach is aligned with a commitment to the best of our parochial inheritance, to the poorest communities, and to the financial realities we face.

Under current immigration rules, it is not generally possible for us to appoint clergy who are not already eligible to work in the UK.

The Diocese of York is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. Find out more here:
