Description Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Salary: £19,514 per annum (rising annually throughout the apprenticeship) Contract Type: Fixed-Term, 24 months Hours: Full-time, 37 hours Location: Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell Campus Didcot, OX11 0QX Closing Date: Sunday, 2nd February 2026 Interview Date: Feb 2026 / Mar 2026 Start Date: September 2026 Join the Marketing and Events team within the Business and Innovation Directorate (BID) at STFC, where we work to promote STFC’s opportunities and activities to businesses of all sizes. As a Level 3 Marketing and Events Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting campaigns and events that drive innovation, business growth, start-up development, and campus activities. This hands-on role offers an outstanding opportunity to learn and develop skills in marketing, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement, all within a dynamic scientific and technological environment. Qualifications gained Level 3 Multi-channel marketer Multi-channel marketer / Skills England What you’ll learn: Offer exposure to a wide array of marketing practices and channels. Provide access to top-notch, relevant training tailored to the multi-channel marketing landscape. Enable you to earn a range of qualifications specific to multi-channel marketing. Allow you to learn and earn simultaneously, applying your knowledge directly in the workplace. Provide a unique blend of practical apprenticeship experience with advanced digital marketing knowledge. Develop, understand, and apply marketing briefs and event plans to ensure alignment with business objectives and brand consistency. Training provider Digital Marketing Apprenticeships | Estio As part of your apprenticeship training will be delivered through a mixture of online and workplace teaching. What You’ll Be Doing – Day-to-day responsibilities Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing events that support BID’s activities. Help build marketing materials for events, newsletters, and social media that highlight BID’s activities. Support the promotion of STFC’s innovation and business support initiatives across different channels, including websites and social media. Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and event execution. Assist in monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, providing insights for continuous improvement. Provide general support to the marketing and events team, contributing to overall team goals. Entry Requirements The below criteria will be scored during Shortlisting (S), Interview (I) or both (S&I). We are looking for the following: Essential GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) (S) An awareness of basic health and safety (I) Enthusiastic and motivated to learn, both in the workplace and through formal training (S&I) A basic understanding of marketing and event promotion, including the use of social media platforms (S&I). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders (S&I). Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail (I). A proactive attitude and willingness to give ideas and solutions (I). A team player (I) Desirable Experience of using Microsoft Office; including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (S&I) Curiosity about and passion for science (I) Curiosity about or experience with business development, start-ups, or innovation activities (I). Experience working on events or marketing projects in a team setting (S&I). Important Information To complete the apprenticeship, you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or AC in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English. For those sitting their GSCEs in Summer 2026, we would need evidence of your predicted grades.
