Practice Development Executive Practice Development Executive (Projects) Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow Brief We are currently looking to recruit a Practice Development Executive into our Projects Team, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with people and can use their technological skills to be efficient in the role. Experience of working in a legal or professional services environment would be beneficial though not essential. Background Principally to provide support to the Projects Leadership and our Projects PDLs on knowledge, training and practice developments in Projects to enhance efficiency and consistency in legal work across the wider Projects Group. Some of our recent Practice Development Executives have used the hands-on experience gained in their role to excel in their role as Trainee Solicitors. Main Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge Management Liaising with fee earners to collect knowhow. Collaborating with global offices to share knowhow, training and best practice. Maintaining the Projects internal knowledge management system including day to day maintenance of the Projects teamsite, hub sites and legal knowhow databases. Assisting in creating and maintaining knowhow and report templates. Supporting the PDL on the development and maintenance of client initiatives and assisting sector and client relationship teams. Horizon scanning, monitoring and providing updates on legal, policy and industry developments that support the delivery of practice team, sector and client initiatives. Undertaking various research tasks including drafting and assisting with research papers. Monitoring and supporting new starts by identifying appropriate resources. Assisting fee earners in locating internal and external knowhow. Training Assisting in organising and coordinating training (online and in person events such as Masterclasses) including liaising with speakers, compiling necessary materials and obtaining feedback. Assisting in coordinating, managing and hosting the biannual Projects trainee inductions. Monitoring progress and uptake of the junior training programme. Maintenance of our online training portal to ensure all training films and materials are uploaded and categorised appropriately. The Candidate Required Qualifications and Relevant Experience Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent. Previous paralegal, legal or research experience preferred. Previous experience of SharePoint, document management systems, intranets, extranets and data site management advantageous. Key Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly organised. Proactive approach and able to drive forward a programme of activities. Ability to achieve deadlines with a practical approach to workload and priorities. Strong research skills. IT literate with a good knowledge and high degree of competency in the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Personal Qualities / Behaviours Skills Professional appearance and manner. Flexible and able to use own initiative, requiring limited guidance. A motivated self-starter who is a good team player. Must be flexible, adaptable and have a professional attitude to work. Ability to interact with and be accessible to people at all levels and across many offices both in the UK and worldwide. Ability to make connections and develop professional relationships across Projects, the firm and externally with clients/key affiliations.
