The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to take ownership of the design, integration, and delivery of advanced systems across our Motorsport and Automotive programs. This role will bridge technical leadership with project management, ensuring cutting‑edge engineering solutions are delivered to specification, on time, and within budget.
The Team
We are a team of engineers experienced both in the design and manufacture of driving simulators, as well as their use in vehicle development. We develop, deliver and support outstanding, ground‑breaking simulators and motion generators that support the engineering that leads to winning performance on the track.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Skills
* Be accountable for the customer‑facing deliverables to ensure a high‑quality, reliable and timely delivery to our customers. There will often be reactive technical requests from our current and future customers.
* For allocated projects, own the project engineering deliverables, including but not limited to: facility integration methodologies, facility design & drawings, facility requirements, mockup requirements, access solution designs, risk assessments & method statements, and installation plans.
* Lead, own and directly support on‑site installations ensuring project delivery scope of accurately captured and managed with the project manager
* Oversee all designs, for your allocated projects, and provide guidance throughout the product development lifecycle from project and systems requirements capture to in‑service support.
* Author and own technical specifications, and managing the technical interface with external suppliers for product delivery, working directly with the procurement team
* Develop and maintain internal system and sub‑system level definition documentation, including product specifications, testing documentation, and design reviews.
* Provide status reports for requirements capture compliance status, validation, and verification.
* Conduct product validation testing, including performance measurement analysis, data collection, and report writing, feeding back into design functions as necessary.
* Collaborate with all engineering disciplines in solution identification, selection, evaluation, performance verification, and demonstrations. Ensuring all stakeholders are aligned.
* Manage/support activities to demonstrate compliance with the required regional regulations and standards, e.g., Machinery Directive
* Comply with all health and safety policies and report any hazards or incidents promptly, leading by example.
Project Management & Delivery
* Support prospective customer proposals, ensuring adequate assessment of facility and mockup requirements.
* Work closely with the project manager, engineering lead, and multi‑discipline engineering project team to ensure the design, build, commissioning, validation, and verification activities are completed on time to meet the project timeline.
* Identify, communicate and manage project engineering risks, liaising with PMs and internal stakeholders to develop and define risk mitigation strategies to achieve successful project delivery.
* Manage project and technical requirements, ensuring they are fully documented, maintained, approved and traceable.
* Capture, agree and validate all stakeholder requirements, both internal and external. Review requirements with users, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Safety).
* Develop and manage clear and efficient product verification strategy, through sub‑system and system testing plans, ensuring agreement with all stakeholders.
* Developing accurate, concise and coherent build methodologies and work instructions. Implementing continuous improvement into build and commissioning processes.
Team Management & Development
* Coach and mentor junior team to ensure high levels of performance, engagement, and capability.
What we're looking for
Ideal Candidate Profile
* 3+ years’ experience in a customer‑facing engineering role
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with direct management of multiple external customers concurrently
* Ability to read, understand, and translate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, schematic, and mechanical assembly drawings and instructions.
* Experience in authoring and reviewing technical documentation; specifications & engineering drawings
* Experience in commissioning and testing of mechanical/electrical systems.
* Experience with onsite installation, commissioning, and provision of training.
* Experience with using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods.
* Experience with requirements, interface documentation and requirements methodologies and managing customer‑facing information
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Experience using 3D CAD systems or Electrical CAD.
* Experience with servo and PLC driven systems.
* DFMEA experience.
Qualifications
* A minimum degree qualification in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Member of a professional engineering body (Chartered Engineer) or working towards chartership.
