We're looking for a dynamic and results-oriented individual with a passion for civil engineering. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and possibly design to construction and closeout. Key Responsibilities:
* Health, Safety and the environment: Prioritise health and safety on all sites and all projects. Lead the team in every aspect of this fundamental. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures. Promote a safe working environment for all team members, stakeholders and the general public, and lead from the front.
* Project Planning and Execution: Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, in consideration of scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk management strategies. Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation to closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within a managed budget, and to the required quality standards. Adopt a cradle to grave mentality around project delivery.
* Team Leadership and Management: Lead and motivate project team members and colleagues, including engineers, surveyors, contractors, and subcontractors. Assign tasks, provide guidance and support, and monitor performance. Foster a collaborative and productive working environment.
* Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, local authorities, community groups, internal teams and the internal senior leadership team. Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure and measure project success.
* Budget Control and Cost Management: In collaboration with your quantity surveying colleague(s), develop and lead where necessary on project budgets and control costs. Identify and implement cost-saving and sustainability measures where possible.
* Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate potential project risks. Develop contingency plans and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies, across the broad spectrum of project risks.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work is carried out to the required quality standards and in compliance with relevant regulations and legislation. Implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance and guidance.
* Contract Management: In collaboration with your colleagues and Contracts Manager, manage contracts with subcontractors, suppliers and all stakeholders. Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and lead on the management of the project. Ensure all works and all aspects are managed in line with the contract whilst maintaining stakeholder relationships.
* Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit regular project reports, including progress updates and programme, financial reports, and risk appraisals. Maintain accurate project documentation with timely and regular updates.
Qualifications:
* A minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering
* CSCS ‘Black’ Managers card or ‘Professionally Qualified’ card. NVQ Level 6 or above preferred
* SMSTS as a minimum, preferably with a record of continuing professional development in health and safety standards and awareness.
* Track record of delivery as a Project Manager / Site Agent within the civil engineering industry
* Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including use of MS Project
* A working knowledge of different standard forms of contracts, particularly NEC 3 and 4
* Commercial Awareness: Understanding of project finance, cost and change management.
* Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
* Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate project teams, build consensus, and resolve conflicts. Able to collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
* Client Focus: A strong focus on client satisfaction and building long-term relationships.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) Status: While not essential, holding Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council UK could be advantageous.
* Must be able to provide eligibility to work in the UK.
