Overview
Are you passionate about improving the environmental performance of infrastructure development projects and helping the UK to deliver its net zero commitments? You will work daily with technical experts within our Environmental Impact (EIA) team and help manage environmental inputs to large-scale development projects as part of a national team with flexible hybrid working locations.
We are a founding member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark and align with our environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy. Offices are available in multiple locations, with hybrid working options.
Responsibilities
* Provide Expertise: As a Principal Environmental Consultant, manage environmental inputs to EIA screening and scoping reports, Environmental Statements, and supporting documents. Review specialist chapters, and participate across project life cycles from strategy and site identification through feasibility, option selection, outline design, detailed design, conditions discharge, construction, and operation/maintenance. Work across portfolios with various consenting regimes (DCO, TCPA, TWA, hybrid Bill, etc.).
* Ensure Quality: Ensure deliverables meet high-quality standards and comply with quality management procedures.
* Project Management: Apply project management skills to resources and budgets, with applicable support.
* Collaborate: Work within integrated design teams to identify environmental constraints, mitigation solutions, and opportunities to deliver benefits.
* Client Contact: Manage client relationships and internal supply teams.
* Growth: Promote AECOM’s environmental services, and identify and lead business development opportunities including fee and technical proposal development.
Qualifications
Required: demonstrated experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs to infrastructure projects; consultancy experience; strong understanding of EIA processes, environmental assessment methods, and applicable planning legislation; knowledge of relevant consenting and licensing regimes; ability to engage with diverse stakeholders; ability to coordinate inputs from specialist teams; excellent verbal and written communication skills; project management skills (programming, resources, budgets); degree in a relevant environmental discipline (Masters preferred) and professional membership; willingness to travel.
Desirable: Chartered Environmentalist status; interest in line management and mentoring; experience with DCO and/or TWAO regimes.
