Join Arcadis as the Technical Director - Town Planning in our Environmental Planning team. We are seeking a Chartered Town Planner with a strong track record leading the environmental and consenting aspects of projects, and experience building and growing teams. The role forms part of the leadership for the Planning and Environmental Assessment and Management (PEAM) Team.
Role description
As part of our Environmental team, you’ll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, in diverse locations around the world.

Role accountabilities
* Lead recruitment, growth, oversee bidding and project delivery, and lead on key clients as part of the Leadership team.
* Coordinate and deliver planning and environmental work undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams, influence project development and deliver optimal environmental and planning outcomes.
* Support business development through external market profile-raising activities and engagement with key clients.
* Raise awareness of Arcadis’ services, win new opportunities, and build new contacts.
* Actively engage in key client relationships, lead by example and create cross-selling opportunities for the wider business.
* Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
* Manage projects and oversee performance on technical quality, commercial, and health and safety.
Qualifications & Experience
* Excellent working knowledge of the UK Planning system and consenting process, including EIA practices and procedures, including case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialisms
* Experience across a range of project types
* Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
* Experience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills
* Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders
* Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance
* Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards
* A flexible, pragmatic, and collaborative approach to work
* Experience in the delivery of DCO/TWAO/Hybrid Bills
* Full Member of RTPI.
