The role:
This role is responsible for the effective management of specialty waiting lists and waiting times, ensuring compliance with Treatment Time Guarantees and national standards. The post holder will provide proactive leadership within administrative and clerical services, supporting clinical teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. The role involves managing resources, coordinating staff, and ensuring waiting list processes align with national policy, including Patient Rights and New Ways of Working.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. Permanent Contract
2. Based in Royal Hospital for Children
3. Full time (37 hours)
4. Monday – Friday, Core normal working office hours
Key responsibilities:
5. Manage the department proactively and take remedial action as required to resolve disputes/problems in service delivery
6. Support and promote the professional development of patient administration services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Acute Services
7. Work collegiately with the Administration Governance Manager and other Waiting List Administration Managers to develop and implement best practice consistently across the service
8. Constant, vigilant monitoring & analysis of waiting list data
9. Responsible for the effective training and development of administrative & clerical staff to support them in the delivery of their remit and responsibilities
10. Ensure all administrative staff are compliant with Statutory and Mandatory Training requirements
11. Promote and maintain a patient centred care ethos which supports effective ways of working and positive behaviours and attitudes to deliver a high quality patient experience.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential skills
12. Excellent organisational & communication skills
13. Experience in managing a number of staff (potentially across a number of sites)
14. Knowledge of patient administration procedures and practices
15. Knowledge of New Ways policy and Treatment Time Guarantee Targets

16. SVQ Business & Administration at SCQF Level 6
17. HND Administration & IT
