Beech Hurst, Andover is part of Test Valley – a diverse and attractive environment that includes the North Wessex Downs, historic Romsey, and the River Test. This position is a maternity post of up to 12 months and is graded Grade 4–6. The Building Control team ensures that new developments meet required standards, operating in a competitive market with the private sector. The Technical Assistant role supports the service by preparing and managing Building Control applications and notifications. The Technical Assistant reports to the Building Control Manager and works within a supportive team that improves the quality of the built environment and the lives of residents across Test Valley.
Responsibilities
* Conduct preliminary assessment, registration and technical administration of all Building Control applications and notifications.
* Represent the council in daily contact with clients, colleagues, and members of the public.
* Use the IDOX Uniform database and associated ICT systems to manage cases.
* Provide advice and assistance to the public, professionals and private individuals.
* Interpret legislation, technical plans and information to understand complex issues.
* Report to the Building Control Manager and receive team support.
